Just poking around, Part deux

Hello again! Let’s continue with the pokings. I only have a few left so this shouldn’t be too long for ya. ;)

After the “felt-tarium”, I was looking on Amazon.com for needle felting books and I found the most perfect book. It had the cutest cover of a bear sitting by a campfire. I just knew I had to make this happen. But I ran into a little problem. The book hasn’t even been released yet. :( The book is called Wee Felt Worlds by Amanda Carestio. So after pre-ordering the book, I decided to give it a go and felt a bear and campfire without the help from the book. :)

He came out better than I’d hope. :)

After the bear, I had no idea what to do next. Then my husband had the best idea. He grabbed one of my stitchings off the fridge and said “You should felt this!” I never would have thought to use an embroidery pattern for a felting. My husband is a genius but don’t tell him I said that. ;)

Here’s a comparison of the stitching and the felting.

And here ‘s a close up of the felting. Things aren’t always what they seem. The box alone was probably the hardest thing I’ve crafted. When everything was finished, the finished product was more than I could have asked for. :)
So now that I have the genius idea of using embroidery patterns for feltings, I feel that I have endless options now. The next thing I did was search the Urban Threads pattern library for my next felting. I found the perfect one…

This has to be the most rad thing I’ve ever created. The end.

That’s it guys. That’s all what I’ve poked so far and I hope you enjoyed seeing them. :)

Just poking around

This post is going to showcase something a little different. During the holidays, I decided to learn a skill to bring in the New Year. If you follow me on Instagram, you might know what I’m talking about. If not, let me tell you all about it. I picked up yet another kind of needle and started learning needle felting. And let me tell you, I’m definitely addicted. Come see what I’ve poked….

This is my first felting. A teeny tiny cupcake, finished with sprinkles. I was so excited about this cupcake, I decided to make another one. A bigger one. With a cherry on top.

Next poking I wanted to try is some sort of an animal. I’ve seen so many adorable animal feltings, I wanted one for my own.

Now that I’ve felted an animal, I wanted to try and felt a person. And what better person to felt that a little village gnome. :)

And you saw right, he’s got a little “junk in the trunk”. :) He still needs a little companion, maybe a little lady will come his way. ;) After searching the internet for other felting ideas, I saw these cute little “felt terrariums”. It’s a felted plant placed in a glass container. A Felt-tarium!

I wanted to do something a little different though. Instead of a plant, I wanted to do a mushroom house landscape thing. It has a stone walkway, a rose bush and a tree stump with a blue bird. Oh and did you notice the smoke coming from the chimney?? :D

Well that’s it for tonight. I have more but I don’t want to bombard you guys with all my pokings in one post.

~To be Continued~

It’s been a while, I know…

Well hello people. I know it’s been a while since I’ve posted on here. I don’t have a good enough reason to let myself off the hook but I promise to check in more often. But for those of you who want to follow me “exclusively” and see what I’m crafting currently, I use Instagram more than any other platform. You can find me there @One2Stitcharoo. :)

Let’s get down to the good stuff! Here are a few stitchings I’ve completed since we’ve last seen each other. If you are one of my earlier followers, you should remember me starting something called the “Inspiration Duvet-tion”. During the holiday break, I’ve stitched a few patterns on my twin sized duvet….

1. Rockin’ Bear by Urban Threads
2. Have your cake by Stitcher’s Revolution
3. Rainbow Connection by Wild Olive

I also had some Christmas orders (yay!)

1. & 2. A friend wanted to give her son’s daycare a congratulatory hoop for winning the best daycare in Austin so I stitched the daycare logo and the “Best of Austin” logo.
3. My husband “ordered” a couple of hoops for his co-workers. He works for a pediatrics clinic and #3 was a gift for the owner.
4. A gift for someone who is a sucker for those inspirational posters.
5. That’s a picture of me getting ready to put the backs on the hoops.
6. Bee Happy pattern by Urban Threads.
7. These are probably my favorite thing to send out with my hoops. Homemade stickers made by yours truly.

This bunny sketch pattern is by Urban Threads, of course. And it’s probably safe to say that it is one of my favorite patterns to stitch. Oh and it’s also available in my shop

Well, that’s how stitchy I’ve been since we last saw each other. At the moment, I am learning a brand new craft but I must sadly say that I’m going to have to save it for a later date. And I promise to make that date sooner rather than later. ;)

Zombie stitching postponed.

Hello people! This is usually the time that I would present the zombie stitching of the week but sadly I had to skip it this week. :( Don’t worry, I have a very good reason……Tomorrow is my wedding anniversary and husband decided to give me strep throat as a my gift. :( We both have been sick as dogs this weekend and I haven’t been able to to pick up a hoop lately. I apologize to those who are following the weekly zombie stitchings, but don’t you guys worry, the Walking Dead Project will be back next week. :)

a stitch here, a stitch there

Wow, I think it’s time for another post, don’t ya think? I have taken a little break from embroidery and have dabbled in an old craft and even learned a new one.
First, let me show you the last few embroideries I have been working on…
I absolutely love how this turned out! It was my first attempt to appliqué and it came out exactly how I wanted it to. The pattern is of course by Urban Threads and this hoop art is currently up for grabs in the Etsy shop.
Here are the most MOST recent ones…
I am a huge fan of The Wizard of Oz. I love the books, the movie (of course) and recently I found a collection of Oz books as a graphic novel. It’s absolutely amazing and it’s definitely worth checking out.
Anyways, I love the look of hand embroidery on patterned fabric, don’t you? Here are a couple more I stitched up…
(Cute little captions are kind of my thing…)
These patterns are by the lovely Bridgeen of Cherry & Cinnamon. (Love her!)
And now for the new stuff. I had recently learned the art of needle tatting.

Here is the first project I needle tatted and can say am very proud of.
I hate to toot my horn but I think this is a job well done for my first time.
I wanted to find more patterns so I did a search and found this flower pattern for beginners. So I tatted several flowers and even played around with the pattern a little bit.
The flower in the middle is probably the smallest thing I have ever created. Here is a picture of it next to my wedding rings just to show how tiny it is.

I am looking forward to seeing what else is out there in the lost art of needle tatting.
And as of now, a good friend of mine (Hi Dana!) has gotten me back into crochet. I have always loved crocheting but living in the Texas heat, there’s not much we can do with scarves and sweaters. So we both discovered the mega adorable and oh so cute amigurumi. I’m finding so many cute patterns that I want to stitch up, I had to first find a simple and small pattern to get me back into the groove of crochet stitching. I found this teeny tiny amigurumi pattern and this is the outcome…
Isn’t he adorable? I just love him and I plan to stitch up a couple of friends for him.
Well peeps, that’s what I’ve been up to and I’ll try to post more often…promise.
